“Silk Elegance Scarf”

Materials: 2 Balls Silk Dream from Lang 50%merino/50%silk 90m, yarn holder, tapestry needle and size 7 needles.
Gauge: Gauge is not important for this project.
Glossary: st=stitch, k=knit, ssk=slip,slip,knit, k2tog=knit 2 together, yo= yarn over, p= purl
Cast on 22 sts. Row 1 - k3 * yo,k2, ssk, k2tog, k2, yo, k1 repeat from *once more and k last st. Row 2 – p
Row 3 – k2 * yo, k2, ssk, k2tog, k2, yo, k1 repeat from * once more and k last 2 sts. Row 4 – p
Repeat these 4 rows 4 more times ending with working row 3. Knit 3 rows.
Row1 – (RS) *k4, ssk, yo, k1, yo, k2tog repeat from * once more, k last 4 sts.
Row 2 – (WS) k4, p 14, k4 repeat these 2 rows until 10” of yarn remains from first ball of yarn.
Place all stitches on a holder. Use second ball of yarn to make second half of scarf by working in the same
manner as first half ending with a wrong side row. Place held stitches on empty needle and with wrong sides
together, graft (see below) the pieces together and weave in ends. Steam or wet block.
Grafting: Holding needles side by side using 10” tail and tapestry needle-Insert tapestry needle through 1st st on
back needle, draw yarn through as if to k leaving st on needle.* Draw yarn through 1st st on front needle as if to k
and slip st off needle. Draw yarn through 2nd st on front needle as if to p, leave st on needle. Draw yarn through 1st
st on back needle as if to p and slip stitch off. Draw yarn through 2nd st on back needle as if to knit and leave st on
needle. Repeat from * until all sts have been worked.
